Rojo Project-----DECORATED CD’SBY YAZDEL ALVAREZ
Please NOTE**, these CD's are for decoration Purposes Only**
For this Project you will need:
-
CD (Any kind, old or new)
-
White Acrylic paint
-
Brush or Foam Brush
-
Stamp of your choice (For the Victorian CD I used Arte
Rojo Stamps
-
#VIC014--Victorian Carmen and VIC001---Pink Roses)
-
BLACK Permanent Ink Pad (or any that does not smear)
(I used, recommend, Brilliance Pads, 'Memories', 'Ancient Page',
Ranger 213)
-
Pigment inks different colors (**Recommend Petal
points, Colorbox, Cats Eyes)
-
Clear Embossing Powder
-
Heat Tool
-
Piece of cardboard (to place CD while heating)
-
Piece of Masking tape-----**Cover center hole of the
CD with Masking tape
(on the back) before you start painting!
Prepare your CD and Stamp on it.
- With a Brush or Foam Brush paint your CD (one side) with White
Acrylic Paint.
You will have to give it at least 1 to 3 coats, especially if it has
anything written on it.
- Ink your Stamp with Memories pads Black or any archival
(non-smear) Permanent ink.
- Stamp your CD. ***Tip: Look carefully at your image and try to
center it or move it to
the side if it is going to affect the image too much. (You don't want
the CD hole in the
face of your image for example!)
- Let it dry Thoroughly. You can speed the process with your heat
tool if you like.
- Using your pigment ink, remove a color (lightest colors ALWAYS
first) from your petal
point, or use a light color from your cats eyes ink pads.
- Make Swirls LIGHTLY over the stamped image. Choose another color
and do the same.
Create your own background as you wish.
- After you have all the colors you want, Sprinkle Clear embossing
powder over the painted
CD.**You will notice that the powder will adhere easily to the
surface, as you have used
pigment inks. Do not worry if some spots lack the powder, you can use
a clear embossing
pad to fill the gap after you heat. Or just leave it like that. It
adds character to your creation.
- Place your CD over heavy cardboard, and start heating it.
***Be patient as you don't want to burn the plastic, or make the paint
underneath bubble up! ***
- Let your CD cool off completely after heating.
------------------------------------------------------
Tips and variations:
- You can do both sides of the CD if you like, just Remember that
heating it will be difficult,
but you can use a pair of pliers to hold it while you heat one side
and then the other.
- You can paint your CD Black or any other colors if you like.
- You can add micro beads to your CD after heated, using double-side
tape to adhere them to
the surface.
- Use Charms if you like or glass beads to compliment your image.
- Drill a small hole before you start and pass a thread through it
to hang if you like. You can do
this also using the center hole. Add beads to the thread.
- You can use re-inkers with Cotton swabs to color your images on
your CD. This might give
you better control, especially if images are detailed.
Hope you try this project. Please show us your Creations, I Would
love to see them!! It would
be my pleasure to include them on our Gallery at the Arte Rojo Website! |
